One of the most popular activities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is to see the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising.

There are several ways to view the cliffs, including boat tours, sea kayaks, or via paddleboarding with a new company that just opened up in Munising.

We opted to take a sunset cruise to see the cliffs.

There is only one federally approved concessioner for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore boat cruises to see the rocks.

Tickets are available directly from the main docks in Munising.

One tip is to get there about an hour before your cruise as seating is not reserved.

The best seats are on the top of the boat, so you’ll want to arrive early so that you can be on top to get the best views of the cliffs.

Along the tour, you’ll see several historic lighthouses, along with the beautiful cliffs.

Unfortunately for us, the weather was cloudy, so although we opted for the sunset cruise to get the best views of the colors in the cliffs, it didn’t work out that way.

However, the views were still spectacular and well worth the tour to see them.

Final Thoughts on Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

We enjoyed our boat trip to see the beautiful rocks along the lakeshore.

We camped at Bay Furnace Campground nearby, and found a lot of activities to do in this area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
