Highway 6 RV Resort in Houston is located about 18 miles west of downtown Houston, Texas.
Convenient Location
It is a convenient option for visiting the Houston area for either a few days or a few months.
We stayed in this RV park in early 2019 so this review is based on our stay then.
The RV park is located near the highway so is easy to access.
It is in a busy strip mall area with many restaurants and retail shops, so you should be able to find whatever you may need nearby.
Highway 6 RV Resort has spaces available for overnight visits, but seems to cater more toward longer term monthly residents who may be in Houston visiting family, while working, receiving medical treatment, or for other purposes.
When we stayed there, most people left during the day and returned at night, but pretty much kept to themselves inside their motorhome, fifth wheel, trailer, or other camper.
It’s less of a vacation type RV campground, and more of a home-away-from-home type RV park.
Highway 6 RV Resort Amenities
The RV park is well-equipped and well-taken care of by the property managers.
It is completely fenced with a gated entrance. Tenants can borrow a gate opener to keep in their vehicle for easy access to and from the campground, rather than having to use the keypad for entry.
Concrete Campsite Pads
All campsites are on paved concrete pads with full hookups.
Campsites either back up to the pond (where fishing is allowed in the stocked lake), or are located in a back parking area.
The campsites around the pond give you a little more breathing room than the ones in the back area since they back up to the pond.
However, all campsites are pretty tight and there’s not a lot of personal space.
Recreation Room
The RV resort offers a nice recreation room, complete with a pool table, snacks, restrooms, and gym facilities.
These overlook the pond and campground area. Free popcorn and coffee are available all day.
Pool and Hot Tub
The Highway 6 RV Resort also offers a nice pool area and hot tub.
The pool is heated for use in the cooler winter months of Houston. The area is also regularly sprayed for mosquitoes.
Outdoor Kitchen at Highway 6 RV Resort
The RV park also offers several areas for outdoor cooking. These include BBQ grills, refrigerators, and picnic tables.
Laundry Room
The laundry room is open 24 hours and includes a large number of washers and dryers for visitors’ use. The machines use credit cards, rather than quarters, which we really liked since we didn’t have to lug around a bunch of quarters.
Computer Room and WiFi
The RV park offers a small computer room with computers available for guests’ use.
There is also free WiFi available across the entire RV park. When we visited, it worked great during the day, but in the evening as more people got online, it slowed dramatically.
Mailboxes
Guests at the RV park can reserve a mailbox to use during their stay.
We were also able to receive packages from Amazon deliveries while staying at the campground.
Pet Friendly RV Park
The Highway 6 RV Resort makes traveling with pets easy. They have several dog walk areas, as well as a dog washing station.
We also saw one camper with a cat on a leash, but the cat wasn’t too interested in being near the dog walk.
Walking and Biking Trail
The Highway 6 RV Resort is located next to a walking and biking trail around a larger lake just outside the campground.
There’s easy access to the walking trail from the RV park through a gate with a keypad used to open the locked gate.
It’s a five mile loop maintained by the city and is a great way to get out and stretch your legs or use those bikes you brought with you on your camping trip.
Other Amenities
The RV park also makes it easy to fill up your propane tanks at the campground.
They have a propane filling station where you drop off your tanks and they’ll fill them for you during the day and contact you when the tanks are ready for pickup.
Visitors can also rent golf carts for use inside the campground. Storage sheds are also available for rent.
The RV park also has an air station for filling your car or RV’s tires.
Overall Review of Highway 6 RV Resort
Overall, Highway 6 RV Resort is a convenient spot if you need to be in the Houston area for a while or even as a stopover on an overnight visit.
We wouldn’t consider it to be a destination RV park, but it is a clean, modern, and well-taken care of facility.
We found the other guests to be respectful of each other. Most were here for work or some other purpose, rather than being on vacation with the family.
The RV park serves this purpose well as it is a secure location in a busy area with many amenities.
